I set up the business in 2002 and chose to operate as a sole trader, using the name of the local landmark (The Chevin) as the basis of the name. After 30 years living on the doorstep of the Peak District and after several years of preparation and saving, myself, my wife and our 3 cats moved to France in 2009, from where I continue to run the business as before. I do not outsource work at all, whether it be to the cheap Indian, Eastern European etc web design and search engine 'experts', your web site or search engine optimisation will be entirely carried out by myself.

So here are a few snippets about me so that you know a little more about who you are dealing with.

My strengths lie in the coding of a web site, I use clean coding that complies with current web standards and that is search engine friendly. A number of the niche sites that I have produced have hit the top of Google on the strength of the coding and content alone, for example, search Google for Complementary Health Derby to find the web site of Jo Hale, who practices Qi-Gong and offers various other complementary health treatments and homeopathy in Derby.

Other sites I have worked harder on ... for example www.huntfortreasure.co.uk which is on the first page of Google.co.uk when you search for various terms related to corporate and stag and hen treasure hunts. Andy, the site owner said that he wanted to be on the front page of Google when people were looking for various treasure hunts - the results speak for themselves!

In a previous life I taught IT and Science in a secondary school in Derby. Prior to that, I had worked in a lab in the north east of England, then for Deb Chemicals Ltd (the makers of a well known brand of hand cleaner) and then in a couple of different sales offices dealing with refrigeration spares and hydraulics so I have a knowledge of a variety of different industries and different aspects of businesses. My Peak District web, A Taste of the Peak District, does well in Google and has involved me in the tourism industry too.

I have a life away from the computer and enjoy being in the great outdoors, climbing, mountain biking and walking, with a preference for mountains rather than farmland as you can probably guess from the photo!
